Since joining AltaStream in 2012, Nick Hanssmann has played a pivotal role in the company’s growth and innovation. His career has spanned various roles including Sales Engineer, Product Manager, Director of Operations, President and now CEO. Nick brings a rare blend of technical expertise and strategic vision to the helm. With a passion for mechanical and electrical design, Nick leads the development of all energy systems and project designs throughout from concept to completion. As CEO, Nick sets the company’s strategic direction, fostering a culture rooted in collaboration, quality, and operational efficiency. His commitment to excellence and results has earned the trust of clients, partners, and stakeholders alike. Nick earned his Bachelor of Applied Science in Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia.

With a strong background in energy solutions and business leadership, Hossein provides strategic direction across all areas of the organization. He oversees corporate development, builds key client relationships, and ensures that AltaStream remains at the forefront of innovation in energy transition technologies. Hossein’s leadership emphasizes collaboration, accountability, and long term value creation for clients and partners. Bardia Shokouhi
Energy Solutions Advisor - Data Centers
Bardia Shokouhi is a sales and marketing specialist in the power generation and data center sectors, combining market strategy expertise with technical knowledge of natural gas and diesel generator systems. He supports AltaStream by developing client relationships, identifying opportunities, and aligning customer needs with tailored energy solutions. With experience across natural gas, diesel, and hybrid power systems, Bardia bridges technical insight with commercial strategy to help deliver reliable and sustainable energy solutions. His focus on collaboration and customer service strengthens AltaStream’s market presence and long term growth.
Nick Shimell
Service Manager
Nick Shimell is a Senior Commissioning Technician and Service Manager with over a decade of hands on experience in power generation, including emergency standby and prime power generator systems. He brings deep technical expertise gained through roles servicing and maintaining generators, combined with a strong mechanical background from his time with the Canadian Armed Forces. At AltaStream, Nick leads service operations by coordinating field technicians, managing maintenance activities, and ensuring generator systems are commissioned, tested, and operating to the highest standards. Known for his practical problem solving ability and commitment to quality workmanship, Nick is a trusted resource for both internal teams and clients.
Ozan Sayilir
Sofware Developer
Ozan Sayilir is an IT professional and application developer with experience supporting daily operations and ensuring reliable system performance. He focuses on keeping technology accessible, resolving issues quickly, and maintaining business continuity. At AltaStream, he helps manage IT processes, supports staff with their technology needs, and develops software tools for our complex and evolving business needs. With a background in application support and system management, Ozan is known for his problem solving skills, adaptability, and commitment to service. His collaborative approach and attention to detail help deliver solutions that meet both immediate needs and long term goals.
Yasir Perez
Project Coordinator
Yasir is a results oriented Project, Maintenance, and Customer Support Specialist with more than 18 years of experience in the power generation and automation industry, complemented by a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a master’s degree in Energy Management. His career is built on delivering safe, reliable, and compliant solutions that meet both operational and business objectives. Over the years, Yasir has successfully led cross-functional and multicultural teams, managing complex projects and maintenance activities in the power generation industry, with a strong commitment to safety, innovation, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
Giovanni Rodriguez
Customer Solutions Associate
Giovanni Rodriguez is an experienced logistics and customer support professional with a strong background in coordinating order flow and managing cross team communication. He supports AltaStream by overseeing logistics processes, ensuring delivery timelines are met, and providing clients with clear and accurate information. Leveraging his experience in inside sales, Giovanni anticipates customer needs, delivers precise product details, and contributes to efficient and well executed sales initiatives. He is recognized for his focus on process improvement, collaboration, and supporting seamless, customer focused operations.

Michael Hanssmann
Advisor, Energy Engineering
Michael Hanssmann is a founding partner of AltaStream in 2003 with over 35 years of experience in industrial automation and energy markets and is an expert in controls and equipment automation. In 1983, he cofounded Techware Systems, pioneering tool automation in the semiconductor industry. With AltaStream, he has overseen the delivery of thousands of control solutions across various markets and projects including power plants, energy storage, and automation. Today, he serves on AltaStream’s Board of Advisors, contributing to strategic development and long term vision. Michael, a Professional Engineer, earned his BS in Electrical Engineering (Controls Specialty) from the University of British Columbia.
Rick Jeffrey
Advisor, Automation Engineering
Rick Jeffrey brings over 40 years of experience in systems and software engineering, including more than 30 years in technical leadership and management roles. His career spans a wide range of industries, including semiconductor, flat panel display, energy automation, commercial and military systems, and manned spaceflight development. He has also worked extensively with quality frameworks such as SEI CMM. For the past two decades, Rick has focused on industrial controls, delivering advanced solutions in energy automation, semiconductor equipment, and nuclear reactor control. Rick serves as the Automation Engineering Advisor for our Board of Advisors. Rick is a Professional Engineer who earned his BS in Engineering Mathematics (Electrical / Controls Specialty) at Queens University.
Allan Mcleod
Advisor, Operations & Finance
Allan McLeod has over 25 years of experience delivering innovative products and solutions across the energy systems, power generation, semiconductor, oil & gas, and wireless data markets. With a proven track record in developing and commercializing advanced software and hardware solutions, Allan has held senior leadership roles in operations, engineering and marketing. His deep understanding of financial operations, market dynamics, and product strategy positions him to as the Operations Advisor on our Board of Advisors. Allan earned his BS in Engineering Physics at McMaster University and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business. Allan has also successfully completed the Certified Energy Management course with AEE.
